July 2016 Newsletter: Prayer Shawls for Fallen Soldiers Knit or Crochet Along

This Summer celebrate your spirit of giving by joining Sandrasingh.com's 3rd Annual Prayer Shawl for Fallen Soldiers Knit or Crochet Along!  Our first Prayer Shawl KAL in 2014 had 2 completed shawls, in 2015 we had 6, let's try double that number this year!

PS4FS is dedicated to the ultimate sacrifice made by our service men and women in Iraq, Afghanistan and around the world and for the grief and loss felt by their families and friends. Presenting these families with a prayer shawl in remembrance of their loved one is a small token of PS4FS’s compassion and appreciation. This organization works directly with the Dover Program at Dover Air Force Base in Dover, DE to support the visiting military families. Their Friends of the Fallen at Dover have asked them to help replenish their supply of shawls, in response Sandrasingh.com's friends have become involved with these Prayer Shawl KALs.

Prayer Shawls are Shawls made for centuries and are universal and embracing, symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God. They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace, mother, hug, shelter and beautify. Those who have received these shawls have been uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to fly above their troubles.

To join and learn more visit our Knit or Crochet Along thread on Ravelry. Briefly, this KAL is free, shawls should be 26-30” wide x 60” long and knit or crocheted in an easy care yarn in patriotic or neutral colors. You’re welcome to use your own pattern or one of the complimentary patterns provided on the PS4FS website.
